Forrest Spence 5k
Race Information (afterwards)
Thank you for your participation of the 9th annual Forrest Spence 5K. It was a wonderful success; new fundraising and attendance benchmarks were achieved, and we are grateful for your support in making it possible!
August 27th was a beautiful but hot day in Memphis. Volunteers arrived to start setting up in the early morning hours, and by sunrise Memphis Botanic Garden was ready for our 1600 guests to have a great time. In the end, over $120,000 was raised to benefit hurting families in our community! We so appreciate the generosity and commitment of our sponsors and 100 race volunteers… your support makes the mission of the Forrest Spence Fund a reality.
Once again, we are excited to hear feedback that families count on and look forward to this child-friendly event every August. The same people come back year after year, and encourage their friends, family and co-workers to attend as well, contributing to the steady growth we see annually in numbers. Our goal is to grow the 5K each year and always look ahead for innovations to keep it a priority for so many. For the third year we had a new awards category to encourage organizations to participate as a team, and Christ Methodist Day School was given the top honor with 194 participants.
Ghost runner shirts, results, pictures, and awards
If you live in the Memphis area and you are a ghost runner or a participant who didn't already pick up your shirt than your shirt will be at Bluff City Sports starting Monday, August 29th. The location is 769 Cooper St, Memphis, TN 38104, 901-274-2202, hours are M-F 8-5. The shirts will only be there till Friday, September 23rd so please pick them up before then. If you are an out of town ghost runner than your shirts will be mailed to you after September 10th. We had to reorder more shirts (great problem because we had so many sign up) and as soon as they are delivered we will mail them out.
