23. Dr. Austin Dalgo — Demystifying Palliative Care, Bioethics, and More
Our guest Dr. Austin Dalgo came on the podcast today to deconstruct the typically negative connotations of palliative care and bioethics and fill us in on all the positive and beneficial work that people in these fields do. It was an enlightening conversation as well as an uplifting one as he shared what he does as a palliative care physician, why he is passionate about it, and how he got started in this work to begin with.
Austin Dalgo is a pediatric palliative care physician at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare System in Memphis, TN. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL. He completed his Med-Peds residency and Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at UTHSC in Memphis, TN. He also completed his masters in Bioethics and Health Policy from Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Dalgo is the director for the Center for Bioethics and Health Equity at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, Program Director for the Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and co-medical director of the Stress and Wellness Clinic of Memphis. He enjoys spending time with his family and riding his bike. We were so honored to have Dr. Dalgo on!
