Points of Impact

We are sitting in the office this morning, humbled by the number of boxes that have come in over the past week. During a time of uncertainty and rebuilding, The Fund has been blessed with an outpouring of support and donations.

As we look around, we can’t help but see all of the lives that are soon to be impacted. The Robbins Family just dropped off, among other items, 100 Unit Appreciation Bags. By the time this family took to create UA Bags, they are going to have 100 individual points of impact.

The nurse who has been running from one end of the hospital to another will get a granola bar they can eat on the go. The child life specialist who has been patiently sitting with parents for hours now, explaining just what this surgery means for their child, can replenish their energy with a quick snack before visiting the next family. 100 different employees will be able to have similar experiences from the impact created by a single family, the Robbins.

But these bags are much more than a snack to keep employees going during long days. They are our way of saying “we see you and the amazing work you do.” They are a small way to say thank you for an enormous job.

And this is just the beginning. We have not only received UA bags, we are getting donations from book drives, hand-created blankets and hats, swaddles, snack bags for families, and more.

For each book donated in memory of Jackson Schroeppel, a caregiver will have the opportunity to bond with their hospitalized loved one through reading.

Each snack bag will provide much-needed nourishment for a guardian who took their child to the emergency room, never planning to still be there the next morning.

Care bags provide entertainment for the child who is at their wits end from being confined to a hospital bed, coins a hungry caregiver can use at the vending machine so they don’t have to travel far from their child, and a journal to keep track of the days.

A handknitted blanket not only provides warmth for a child but comfort for the whole family in knowing someone cares enough about their wellbeing to create a personalized blanket stitch by stitch.

We could go on forever about the different impacts of each item donated. These are so much more than bags filled with quick snacks or books picked from a wishlist. Each item donated is an individual point of impact for someone who needs to know they are not alone in this world.
