Small Acts Have Big Impacts

It’s been said that the flap of a butterfly’s wings in one location can change the weather thousands of miles away. Commonly known as the butterfly effect, this principle addresses the idea that small acts have big impacts. We think the very same idea can apply to giving.

When you give to others in what may seem like a small way, the impact can be large in someone’s life.

Furthermore, your small act of giving may encourage other people to give, creating an ongoing chain of love throughout the community.

Here are a few small acts that can have big impacts:

  • Tell the cashier at a store you are craving a candy bar, and ask what they recommend. Buy the candy bar, then give it to them.

  • Take a little extra time to compliment something you appreciate about a friend.

  • Pay it forward at a drive-through.

  • Hold the door for someone coming in behind you

  • Rake your neighbor’s leaves
